2024: A year full of dreams

We look back on a special year full of new projects and many great stories. A year in which we made the dreams of several customers come true. For example, we started the construction of three new sailing yachts, we delivered an Enksail Orion 49 to Paul and Sheryl from the YouTube channel Distant Shores TV, and we are making plans for new clients.

Distant Shores (IV)

This year we delivered the Enksail Orion 49 to Paul and Sheryl; the Canadian presenters of the YouTube channel Distant Shores TV. The yacht started her journey towards the Caribbean last summer after a test run to England. This winter they will sail in the Caribbean.

This year we delivered the Enksail Orion 49 to Paul and Sheryl; the Canadian presenters of the YouTube channel Distant Shores TV. The yacht started her journey towards the Caribbean last summer after a test run to England. This winter they will sail in the Caribbean.

At the time you read this post (December 2024), the yacht is in the Atlantic and Paul and Sheryl are making the crossing from Cape Verde to the Caribbean. They will stay there until next spring, after which the plan is to sail back to the Netherlands. After that, they hope to make a trip to Svalberd, but Sheryl always says, “Plans are there to be adjusted, so we’ll see what the future brings.” In the meantime, they have made great video reports on the construction of the Enksail Orion 49 and are taking plenty of footage of their sailing trips. The videos can be viewed on YouTube

We would also like to use this opportunity to update you on the four sailing yachts we currently have under construction. Each customer has their own story and that also makes each Enksail Yacht unique. The semi-custom-build options make it possible to match the goals and wishes of the customer as much as possible to achieve the  sailing yacht of their dreams.

We are currently building four sailing yachts from the Enksail Yachts series: the Enksail Noordkaper 43, the Enksail Halcyon 50 and two Enksail Orions 49.

(1) Enksail Noordkaper 43

The Enksail Noordkaper 43 is being built for an American client and will be delivered in the spring of 2025. The owner of this sailing yacht plans to undertake long voyages after some sailing trips here in Northern Europe.

The Enksail Noordkaper is one of the few sailing yachts still being built in steel. Our yard has been building this model since 1999 in a range of different lengths, and it is still a timeless model. Even 25 years later there is still a lot of interest for this sailing yacht.

(2) Enksail Halcyon 50

Our first Enksail Halcyon is currently being built for a Dutch owner. She will have a Yanmar diesel engine with hybrid propulsion allowing for both electric and diesel sailing.

The Enksail Halcyon is an aluminum sailing yacht with an extra large deckhouse for plenty of living space. The headroom in the Enksail Halcyon 50 will be at least 2.05 meters and all beds will be 2.10 meters long each. Thanks to the hull windows and wandows in the deckhouse, there will be plenty of natural light in the interior, making long stays on board very pleasant.

The sailing yacht is built heavier than many other aluminum yachts. The Enksail Halcyon 50, with a length of 15 meters, is almost 5 meters wide and has a minimum draft of 1.50 meters. It is a robust vessel with much volume, different from other aluminum sailing yachts.

After delivery in the summer of 2025, the Dutch owners will embark on several beautiful voyages, starting in Northern Europe.

(3) Enksail Orion 49

At the time of writing this post, the hull of the Enksail Orion 49 is completely finished and the ballast has already been fitted. This sailing yacht will have a completely different interior than the previously built Enksail Orion. The layout will be changed but also the styling will be different.

What will be the same, on the other hand, is the solent rig with electric furlers on the headsails and mainsail. This will make it easy to maneuver the yacht even with a small crew.

The Enksail Orion 49 will be fitted with a hybrid propulsion system and will sail the Northern European waters from 2026 with its Dutch owner.

(4) Enksail Orion 49

The other Enksail Orion 49 we are currently building is for a client from Alaska. So she will mainly sail in the colder regions and we therefore pay extra attention to heating and insulation of the yacht. This allows for more comfortable sailing in the home waters. We have also modified the cockpit layout so that the winches are positioned more centrally.

This Enksail Orion 49 will begin her adventures in Northern Europe in 2026, after which she will depart for Alaska via warmer regions.
